In scripture, wilderness a frightening place of exposure, without safety, structure, or security. It is also a place where those with ears to hear and eyes to see have profound encounters with God.

Refuge of the Outcast


Wilderness is also where the Church, for too many generations, has sent those who did not fit. Those who know God in different ways and words are cast out, like Hagar, far from our pulpits and sanctuaries.

Generations in the wilderness have given the outcasts words that the Church needs to hear. Voices that cannot be silenced. Revelation that demands to be shared. Together, we begin to speak. Together, we are heard.
